John Alfred Hadley John Alfred Hadley, 90 of Richland, died at 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City.
A funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Friends Church in Richland, with the Rev. Tim Hadley and the Rev. Tim McGuire officiating. Burial will be in the Richland Friends Cemetery. Family visitation will be 2 - 5 p.m. Sunday at Mother Cabrin Parish Center in Richland. Memorials to Trinity Friends Church may be left at the parish center or church or may be mailed to the family at 31706 300th Ave., Richland 52540. Arrangements are in the care of Gould Funeral Home in Richland. Mr. Hadley was born March 9, 1919, near Richland, the son of G.W. and Helen Brolliar Hadley. He married Eloise Barnett Feb. 14, 1942, in Memphis MO.
Mr. Hadley was a lifetime resident of Richland. He graduated from Richland High School in 1937 and farmed near Richland. He also was a carpenter in many of the surrounding communities. Mr. Hadley served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of Richland American Legion Post No. 504. He was also a member of Trinity Friends Church. His faith and family were very important to him. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Susan Hunt and husband Howard or Peoria, Ariz., Sandra Jo Wolfe and husband Dennis of Washington, Iowa, Nancy Pence and husband Verne of Pleasant Plain and Debbie Hadley of Dighton, Kan.; five sons, J.D. Hadley and wife Charlotte of Salem, Ore., Michael Hadley and wife Pam of Richland, James Hadley and wife Sylvia of Richland, Daniel Hadley and wife Brenda of Bloomfield and Joseph Hadley and wife Kerry of Richland; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and one sister, Eloise Snakenberg of Sigourney. He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-grandson; and three sisters, Mary Hart, Arlene Chandler and Jean Hull. |
